The Brooding Soldier is a Canadian war monument situated on the Vancouver Corner in Saint Julien. The monument is built to commemorate the Canadian soldiers who died during the first German gas attack at the beginning of the second Battle by Ypres . In Flanders fields the monument is known as “Den Canadien”. The monument is a statue of a Canadian soldier that rests on his rifle.
